Lancaster Academy Careers LRI Visit
Today 20 Lancaster Academy students from year 9 and 11 visited the LRI to attend a Careers in Medicine event. They learnt about radiology and how to identify irregularities on scans and about different career pathways that could take them into a variety aspects of medicine. They also took part in practical sessions led by NHS professionals including CPR, blood pressure, detecting heart problems with a stethoscope and examining ears and eyes. They also got to try out a machine that is used to train people to undertake endoscopies and heart surgery. Many of these students are aiming to pursue a career in medicine and they thoroughly enjoyed the day.
